LORAG’s Youth Drop-in Centre was established in 1993. We initially came together following periods of intercommunity tension.
We meet to provide – a place to go, to plan our own activities as well as run them. We also provide a support centre to build confidence, encourage achievement and provide new and positive experiences.
The ethos of LORAG’s youth project is firmly based in a community development approach to youth work that believes in and values young people’s potential. We recognise and value the contribution young people make to their own and others development including that of their community.
LORAG’s youth project believes that young people have the right:
- To be listened to and heard
- To have their experiences seen as valid and their views and wishes taken into account
- To participate in their community and the services that affects their lives
- To have information, support and resources necessary to make informed decisions on their lives in order to develop their full potential
